SCRAPBOOK

for the week of December 16-22, 2024

On Sunday, December 15th, I had returned home from my journey to Plattsburgh, New York and come Monday, I was missing color! -Make-up color that is.

When I travel I only bring a few make-up palettes and I usually end up leaning towards the neutral side. Neutral colors make it easy to blend and be quick. When it comes to travel, I don't want to spend a lot of time on my make-up; I want to get up and explore! I also don't have to worry about matching certain colors to my outfits; neutrals go with everything. However, bright colors and sporting dramatic looks are what I wear in my everyday life when it comes to make-up. In New York, the most dramatic I got with my make-up was black eyeliner.

I returned home to my partner's niece visiting from Florida for a week. (Although, she's originally from London, England.) I don't believe my partner had seen her since she was 12.

This was my first time meeting her and I really enjoyed conversating with her and playing games with her. She is studying for a degree in international business and hopes to work in policy making back home in England. Her views on worldwide political situations was refreshing and it only confirmed what I have been saying for the last few years- the youth is our hope! I have never understood people who "fear" or get "worried" about putting politics and political decisions in the hands of the future generations. I have witnessed and experienced many members of Gen Z and Gen Alpha who are not only educated and informed about current politics, but they're also taking action.

Tuesday was her last day with us, and we took her to experience California sushi. - Sushi is a must try in California. There is no state in the Main 48 that makes it better! - And just as I suspected, it was way better than what she gets in England.

SFO | December 2024

EARLY, Wednesday morning, we dropped her off to catch a flight back to her family in England for the holidays. - SFO looked pretty all lit-up for the holidays.

Mid-Week

The middle of the week was spent cleaning the house. There was a lot to do even though I had only been away for a few days. - Laundry never ends!

The end of the week was all downhill.

It started out okay, on Friday morning and into the afternoon. My partner had his holiday work party and we won a brand new Nespresso machine!

On the way home, I started to feel a little queasy. I thought it was due to the alcohol and I just needed to get home, drink some water, and move around. - WRONG - Just a couple of exits away from being home, I threw up and continued to throw-up through the night. It was the worst case of food poisoning I've had in my adulthood. I was bedridden all weekend. I hadn't been that sick in 15 years.

However, because I was in bed all weekend and not feeling well enough to do anything but lay around, I finally watched "Suzume"! I had found this movie on a plane ride on my way back from Amsterdam, Netherlands in September and I watched the preview, but decided to wait on it until I could sit in comfort and watch. Also, I prefer, now, to watch animes in English first (if possible) and then in Japanese, so I have a better understanding of what is going on. - While not very original, I enjoyed the movie.

I also binged the only season of the Magic School Bus from my 90's childhood that is on Netflix. It did not disappoint!
