Spotify started a trend that I don't think will be going away anytime soon. Their Wrap that highlights people's listening preferences and stats annually has not only spread to other music apps now, but just about any app that can track stats.
I logged into my Starbucks app a couple of weeks ago to find that my "year in review" was ready. This is a new feature, because I've had this app since it was created and I've never had anything like this presented to me by Starbucks before. I actually was a reward member before the app was invented and I had to have my gold member card in hand (which has since been lost).
I do like their choice in using the term "scrapbook" as their design and to lead their presentation. It is my vibe after all!
I was reminded that I have been a member for 16 years! That's basically my whole adult life.
I think the "redeemed" stat has to be from 2024 only? In 16 years I have definitely redeemed more than 600 stars. It used to be 100 for a free drink, but now we're up to 200 for the freebie, but I used to redeem points for free drinks all the time.
I haven't been going to Starbucks as much in-person when I'm home over the last year and half, because I am no longer in walking distance of one. I mainly go when I'm travelling. I also tend to use the locations inside of Safeway and you cannot get points through the app that way. (The locations near me do not allow you to order ahead through the app.)
I was shocked to see that most of my visits were in the afternoon, because it feels like I have been to Starbucks a lot in the early morning in Oakland. But! This Summer, I did get a lot of drinks on the way home on a weekly basis in the afternoons after work and while playing Pokémon Go for Community Day (which took place in the afternoon).
I'm working on ordering ahead through the app, more, but if I'm not in a rush I don't mind waiting for my drink.
And hot coffee will always be greater than iced. I said it!
Travel
I have an issue with this stat! As cool as this is to see, it lacks data. Most of the data "lacking" will come from 3rd party places or places that cannot accept the app and that also includes international locations.
I learned a few years ago that Starbucks USA doesn't own the locations abroad. Instead, the company franchises it. This is why the menu and merchandise varies so much overseas. You can't use the US app internationally. You can't even check-in to remember you were there. - In 2024, I visited 2 different Starbucks in Denmark and 2 different locations in the Netherlands. That would have been neat to add to my list.
QUASO!
The moment I saw my #1 snack, I immediately thought of: QUASO! The internet and Reels are very much a part of my life.
I don't order much food from Starbucks anymore. I went through a phase for a couple of years when I bought their sandwiches and I would also get cake pops a lot, but now I can't really handle them. The sandwiches are too much bread and the cake pops are too sweet. If I do get anything from Starbucks now, it's a chocolate Croissant and I know I've had it a few times in 2024.
I guess hot coffee isn't popular now, because I made the top 10% for the category. I think I ordered more Pumpkin Spice Latte's this year than ever before!
